Bird's eye view in Cape Panwa Hotel Phuket
We came to Thailand for two weeks in July, as a family which included our 4yr old daughter and her grandparents. We decided to split our time between two destinations. The second week at Thavorn Palm Resort (which I booked under the premise it looked a bit more family friendly in terms of facilities and in the thick of the beach community of Karon Beach), and our first week here at Cape Panwa Hotel, under the premise it looked secluded (therefore quiet) and super chilled which was what we'd want after all the travels and stress. And also slightly more grown up orientated/ than family friendly in terms of facilities. To start, the hotel is set beautifully on the hillside over looking the sea and beach. Lots of mature trees, felt quite wild but in a good way. The reception and restaurant area were lovely, and the staff working there (Dear & Jay) were absolutely fantastic. As it'd been ages since a proper holiday and having a small person to share the space with we shelled out for the 'Cape Suite with Sea View'. Between the general size of the room, facilities, and the views, it certainly now rates as the top room I've been lucky enough to stay in. The pool area was nice, not expansive compared to other hotels, but sufficiently nice. We spent half our time in the pool and the other half at the beach. I really loved the beach, and in July with a predominant westerly wind, it remains mainly calm and flat comparitively to being on the West Coast of Phuket. It's a lovely sandy beach, that runs out into coral & rock, so it's worth noting that at low tide, there isn't much water between you and the bottom; the bottom can be sharp. They kindly provide you a timetable in your room for the best time to swim on the beach. The beach was a 1-2 minute walk down the hill from our room. The bars/ restaurants were lovely, and the breakfasts were great.

We had a wonderful short stay at Cape Panwa Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful with a private beach, gorgeous swimming pool and an on-site spa, but the best thing about the place, is the team of staff working there. They really went over and above to make our stay special. It was my birthday on our second night and they arranged for little treats here, there and everywhere to celebrate it. I was so grateful. The breakfast was delicious and there are a good selection of restaurants to choose from for lunch and dinner. We would have preferred it if the beach bar had stayed open later (closes at 8.30pm) so there was a bit more variety to the nightlife options, but there is the Lighthouse Bar which stays open till around midnight. Our room was very comfortable and we were offered an upgrade on arrival that was very good value. It’s very quiet at night so we weren’t disturbed at all and enjoyed a great night’s sleep each night. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would be delighted to stay again.

- great breakfast buffet (Thai and European dishes) - nice spa, on the pricier side but worth it - very friendly staff, especially the people who work in the bamboo bar are so welcoming and helpful (our grandma stepped on a sea urchin, the staff did everything to help her and after that they asked everyday how she felt :)) - beautiful sandy, private beach with palm trees, enough beach chairs for everyone and towels provided - information about the tides of the sea available in the rooms - tour and taxi services - lots of activities you can do, we especially loved wearing the traditional Thai costumes

We spent 7 nights at this ocean front hotel. We paid extra to upgrade our room to be closer to the ocean side, most rooms have a nice view of the ocean. Lush hotel grounds. There is a little tram you can use to get up/down to the beach. Good breakfast selection, especially the energy booster shot. Their coffee machines keep breaking. Food was good, cocktails from the beach bar were just okay. Lots of mosquitoes. Quite a steep, narrow road to get to the hotel from the main road. I think it’s a bit over price for what you get out of this place.

Ratima

Comfortable, large rooms, nicely furnished. Large beachfront and plenty of sun beds. Nice choice of restaurants (when available!). The hotel caters for numerous large weddings who take over restaurants and bars at short notice. I appreciate this is lucrative business for the hotel but a bit trying for other guests . The property is on top of a very steep hill, the shuttle service is excellent and very much needed!!
